Project details

This project was part of an ongoing project to upgrade facilities at Kett's Park in Wymondham, making them more attractive to prospective and existing players. This phase aimed to improve and expand the tennis facilities at Kett's Park, namely:

  • An additional tennis court, with markings to allow netball to be played as well
  • Resurfacing of the existing three tennis courts
  • Replacement of ageing floodlights, with new energy efficient LED lumineers

The Greater Norwich Growth Board fully funded this project, which met the strategic objective of increasing participation in sport and physical activity, and serves a growing population.

The project was delivered under-budget and has resulted in increased membership at Wymondham Tennis Club / Kett's Park from around 100 in early 2022 to over 180 in September 2024. South Norfolk Council has a good working relationship with Wymondham Tennis Club, and offer a variety of initiatives to encourage local people to participate. The club's junior section continues to grow and over 100 juniors will have received some coaching in 2024. The club have recruited a new tennis coach and have since installed a new and attractive clubhouse, including an outdoor seating area. The netball court provided on the site has brought an outdoor, publicly accessible, floodlit court to Wymondham for the first time.
