Infrastructure Investment Fund
Once the strategic Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) has been received from the three planning authorities, the funding is put into the Greater Norwich Growth Board's (GNGB) joint Infrastructure Investment Fund (IIF).
The IIF provides grant funding for strategic infrastructure projects across the partnership area that support the growth of the local community and ensure that residents have access to the infrastructure which makes Greater Norwich a great place to live.
Fund rules
- Only the Greater Norwich partner authorities are eligible to apply. Applications will be considered if a Greater Norwich authority is working in partnership with other organisations, but the application should always be submitted by the Local Authority.
- Projects should have a project sponsor who is a member of the Infrastructure Delivery Board.
- Projects must be 'shovel ready' to start onsite within the forthcoming financial year.
- The IIF welcomes projects that are part funded and only need a final top up of funding to deliver.
- Projects must meet at least one of the four thematic groups (set out below) and align to the strategic priorities as outlined in the Greater Norwich Infrastructure Plan (GNIP).
Communities
Community Infrastructure includes a range of projects from libraries and community centres to sports and physical activity infrastructure such as playing pitches, swimming pools, and sports halls.
Education
Education Infrastructure includes all the facilities required to provide effective teaching and learning. Our projects concentrate on the need to build new schools or extend existing school buildings to support the growing population within Greater Norwich.
Green Infrastructure
Green Infrastructure is the provision of connected and multi-functional green spaces. It includes all forms of green spaces such as sports and recreation grounds, allotments, parks, and natural open spaces. It also includes Blue Infrastructure such as rivers, canals, ponds, wetlands, and floodplains.
Transport
Transport Infrastructure describes the physical network comprising roads, pavements, railways, and facilities such as rail stations, bus stops, street lighting and signage.
